  1. This could be wet tail. Discharge from the eye alarmed me of this. Please take your guinea pig to the vet as soon as possible.

    Good luck mate.

  2. this could be life threatening take the guinea pig to the vet asap

  3. take it straight to the VETS.

  4. white milky discharge in the eyes is normal in guinea pigs, is a natural secretion that they have to lubricate the eyes and clean them when things like grass seed and dirt get stuck in them. Though if he is lethargic and having discharge of any kind else. This will require a vet visit as it may have an Upper Respiratory infection and need medication and very quickly. Guinea Pigs do not last long once they are sick and speed is the key to there survival.  I have raised show pigs over 17+ years

ADDITION: Observe the Pig, is he eating, drinking normally? No sneezing, wheezing, coughing? Is it maybe sleeping rather than just sitting around? Is he making little Mewling noises? Does he have Diarrhea? Any of these things added to the discharge can indicate illness. Be observant and dont wait too long to  get him some help

PET VET are you serious? Wet Tail is diarrhea not discharge from the eyes. and Guinea Pigs dont get wet tail. Hamsters get it

  5. The white dicharge sounds normal to me, the only thing I find troubling is the lethargy. Observe her habits for a while, make sure she is getting enough to eat and drink. If she isn't eating and drinking you should pay your vet a visit.

This link talks about the difference between normal and abnormal ocular discharge in Cavies.

But eye discharge with lethargy can be a sign on pneumonia:

  6. talk to the vet as soon as u can

  7. Take it to the vets A.S.A.P like now if you can

  8. As everyone else said it needs to be taken to a vet. I had problems with one of my guinea pigs and it was laying on its side and wouldn't move but it was still alive, I don't remember seeing any white discharge in her eyes though so hopefully its not the same as mine had, but we took it to our nearest vets and as it was quite empty she was looked at instantly and we were given some stuff for her.

I hope your guinea pig gets better soon.

  9. texel girl is right the milky substance is what they use to clean and its completely normal.....with him not walking though that doesn't sound good could be lacking calcium or vitamin c so you need to provide him with some nice green leafy salads (not iceberg lettuce as this will give him diarrhoea) definately take him to the vet if he doesnt get any better as they will go down hill fast.
