Question:

My guinea pigs run and hide when i walk in their room what should i do?

they are in my bedroom and seem to stay in their hidey hole all day when im around when i go out of the room for a bit and come back in they are out drinking or rumaging about their cage but as soon as they see me they run and hide ALSO.... they sleep all day and as soon as i turn my bedroom light off at night they come out and make a h**l of a lot of noise BEAR IN MIND.... they are only babies and i have only had them around two full days thanksxxx

  1. Yeah they are young so they just need time to get used to you and eventually they will be fine around you and that happens even now to me when our pigs are almost full grown! I think they're just very shy and that is their defense mechanism although they wouldn't be as scared of you if you handfed them hay or carrots... yes our pigs are really spoiled!


  2. That's very normal, especially since you've only had them two days. Give them time and they'll eventually be less nervous around people. One thing you can do is put them in a room that is more heavily trafficked by people. If they're in your family room or living room they'll see people walking around all day and will become quickly accustomed to them. When they're in your room there isn't a lot of commotion so when you walk in it's very startling to them.
