My female guppy just gave birth today, or last night, not sure, but there are 6 guppy fry. Im going to take them out of the breeding tank, so i can put in other females. Im getting a small tank (5 gallons or something) for them. Do i REALLY have to have a thermometer for them.. because my main tank thermometer isn't on and it's in the middle of the summer. Also i don't want to spend extra money on a heater aswell? I have a filter for them though.

  1. No,they don`t need a heater...

  2. thats perfect doing great they dont need much

but remember feed them about 6 times a day

  3. you could just use a desk lamp for their heat, that is what l use.

here is a picture of my setup( the link is to a forum and this is my  post, l'm aka guppylover. just scroll down and you will see my setup)

the lamp keeps my tank at 75degrees.

  4. Where do you live?  In the summer, my heaters are off because it is warm inside.  If the room temperature drops to low in the winter, you will need a heater.

Watch out, they multiply QUICKLY.  Without long-term planning, you could end up with too many guppies.  They are cute.

  5. instead of spending money for an extra tank just go to petsmart or petco an buy a breeding net for them it just attatches to the side of the aquarium and lets water past through it looks like this: http://www.aquatics-warehouse.co.uk/acat...
