My hair is too long and I have a lot. If I wanna get a haircut to make it thinner is my gonna become short?

I want to keep my long hair but its just TOO HOT in southern california to have so much hair and have it thick. I have straight asian black hair but i want to make my hair thinner. Its already layered and i have side bangs. Sometimes i feel like i have too much hair where my bangs are. If I tell the lady to make it thinner so it looks and feels less, will she cut my hair short? I like my length and i dont mind trimming a little bit but i like my hair long.

Just tell her you'd like to keep as much length as possible, and ask for a razor cut. It will make your hair look really choppy, and for me it was easier to style. I did mine myself though. Took a Gillette razor to it one night and hello new hair cut. I wouldn't suggest doing it yourself if you've never cut your hair before though. Haha.

I don't really get how it works, but everytime I use a razor to cut my hair it hardly gets shorter, yet it feels so much more thin and healthier. I love it.

tell the hair dresser to thin it using a razor.  i also have a lot of thick hair.  you might have to loose up to half an inch but trust me its worth it.  make sure you go to a skilled hair dresser!!!

i told the lady that was gonna cut it to take out some volume!

no i live in texas so my thick hair was h**l

so i asked the lady to make it thinner and she used this razer thing that made it thin without shortening it at all (and i hate short hair so i was watching carefully)

trust me it feels amazing when its done

nope, just because you want it thinner, it doesn't have to be shorter,

tell her you want to get it thinned out, she'll know what you mean and you'll have your hair all the same length
