  1. The problem seems to be with you pulling your hair back , you mentioned hair band . You will have breakage in either the front ( being too tight) or in the back above the band. If this is so , stop pulling your your hair back. When I foil (highlight) my hair , my hair always gets thicker, because chemical opens your cuticle in your hair or swells it.  Natural hair has more oil in it which will make it flat looking.

  2. If it is heat products, use a heat defence spray like Tresseme products. It might be to do with your diet, try getting more vitamins and dairy products, which are good for your skin and nails, too. If this doesn't help, hair magazines usually have products and advice to make hair stronger. Hope it helps x

  3. No, natural hair is never the problem. Relaxed hair is suprisingly more fragile and more susceptible to breakage than natural hair, so getting a perm will only WORSEN to condition of your hair. What type of hair products do you use? Do you use natural products? What is your hair regimen? What type of comb do you use? Are you on any type of medication or have a disease that may cause this? Sometimes when your body is going through things internally (stress, disease, ect)  hair begins to shed badly, and all of the factors I listed above could play a part in your hair issues.

BTW: Do you have African American textured hair, or is it thin and straight?

  4. my hair used to break alot too...when your hair is wet, do you brush it? That is really bad for your hair and easily pulls it out...when your hair is wet, thats when its most fragile so let it dry before you manage it. Pantene has great shampoos for breakage...just try them. They really work. Too many heat products and styling can also cause your hair to fall out, so make sure you don't do it too often. Remember, Pantene will help alot. Hope this helps and good luck =)
