i took my hampster out to play with today and i noticed that on his face under his left eye he was missing a little chunck of fur and when i looked closer i noticed that there was a hole there. the hole looks pretty deep and is bleeding just a little bit. he is a male russian hammie and is only 5-6 months old. i don't know what this is but i'm worried because i've heard that they get cancer and i don't want my baby to die! please somebody help i'm in a panic here.

  1. That really does sound terrible!  Do you have an exotic vet or a vet who will treat small mammals?  I would, at the very least give them a call and see if they can take a look.  He could have just gotten caught somewhere in his cage (which means you REALLY need to do a safety check of his enclosure!), but either way he likely needs a pet-safe antibiotic treatment like Baytril.

Also, some Polysporin on the surface.

  2. Take him to the vets NOW. PLEASE. SAVE THE POOR THING. It might have just injured itself but if not it might be ill. Prepare yourself for the worst. take it to the vets now  x

  3. I'm sorry but if you really love and care about him take him out of his pain and get him euthanized.

  4. Is he with another hamster? I am sorry but this seams very painful. Take him to the vet right away of course, but chances are you will have to put him down. It would be best for him if you let a vet put him down with an injection rather then let him stay in is cage suffering to death. It probably was cancer, and there is really nothing you can do unfortunately. I am soo sorry =[

  5. it my of fell on something just lleave it for a couple of days and c how it goes if still ba then c a vet
