Question:

My hamster's vet fees?

My hamster has a pinky red lump on her tummy and we're gonna get it checked over by a vet. We've booked an appointment tonight at 6pm and the check-up will cost £24 and more will be added for the treatment. I think what my hamster has is an abscess. How much will it cost for the vet to get rid of it and give her anti-biotics or pain killer or something? I just want to know so we have a rough idea for later tonight. I'm hoping it's not loads over £50 or something.

Thanks!

  1. i really dont think that it will cost over 50 but it may

It is very strange that your vet charges for any small rodents becoz sometimes (most of the trime) vets dont charge for small rodennts and they only charge for the medicien (if given any)It depends on the vet. You don't always have to go to a vet that specializes in exotic pets. Some regular veterinarians will look at your hamster. You could call your vet and ask him or look in the phone book and give a few people a call.

It's hard to say what the cost is. If it's just to look at something on his face the charge may not be that much. It can't hurt to call a vet office, tell them the problem, and ask how much it might be. It could be anywhere from $20 to $50 if that.

  2. I have dealt with a Chinchilla with an abscess. It cost 200 dollars to remove it, but since a Chinchilla is a lot larger than a hamster, it should cost considerably less.

  3. Wow, the vet I work for doesn't even charge for an examination for small rodents like hamsters or mice. The only thing we would charge for would be any kind of medicine the little girl would need. Let us know how you make out.

  4. To get it removed costs i think more than 50$ because i have a syrian hamster that had a large lump like urs and i never brout it to the vet caus my mom and dad wouldnt let me  :(

Also to get it removed it has to take penescilen wich is a 20% chance the hamster could die. That is what the vet told me on the phone but dont worry and i hope your hamster will be fine :(
