How can I check to see if it is working? I have tried brining the bottle to them and they have dranken out of it, but I don't know if they are really getting water because the water line hasn't decreased much in 24 hours, I fear it's not working. What can I do until I can possibly get to a pet store to buy a different water bottle?

  1. If your hamsters wernt getting water, you would know. Their bodies are sooooo small that every thing just goes right through them, they would be nonactive at night, and probably dead. When I first got my waterbottle, I feared the same thing. But it is all okay.Try putting your finger where the water comes out, if there is even a bit of moisture, it should be okay. Iff I ever see my hamster trying to drink, I see he gets some, but I will push down on the top and a drip will form, that way he can get a bigger drink.( I have a drip waterbottle.) Hamsters don't drink much water at all, one time I went away for a week, filled the waterbottle to the top, and when I came bach it looked like nothing had changed, but he was COMPLETLY fine.

  2. Put you finger on the ball where the water comes out and roll it and see if any comes out!!

  3. Well chances are, if you have more than 3 or 4 hamsters that are very active from playing around and running on the wheel, this only mean that they get very thirsty, thats all, maybe you should get an extra water-bottle.

  4. push your finger against the ball at the opening and if you have even the smallest amount of water on your finger then it working.

Hamsters usually dont drink a lot of water. most of it evaporates.

  5. this answer is kinda gross but (after washing it) try drinking from it yourself really gently.
