He's a panda hamster and he looks pretty young. We got him yesterday and he won't drink from a dish or a bottle.

  1. he will drink from one of them eventually...  dont worry  hamsters can smell water like all animals  he wont let himself die from dehydration

  2. aww!! thts so cutee!! bring it to the vet

  3. i would just keep the water and stuff in his cage. change it daily so its clean -animals don't like dirty water usually.

my two cats only drink from my room -they don't like to drink in the living room or kitchen. it might be that your panda hamster is just unfamiliar with the surroundings and doesn't like the smell of the dish and stuff. just give him some time for him to warm up to his new home. if the problem persists, i suggest talking to the pet store or to a vet.

  4. he may be sick

  5. you go to the vet, and if it had a problem, go back to the store and ask for a refund.

  6. Give him fresh mater try cold and if he wont drink out of that then  try to feed him warm water. If he still  wont drink anything then try to hand feed him. If he STILL wont drink than i think you should take him tot the vet....

  7. Well the only thing you can do is take the bottle and nurse it, just to show it where the water is.. If that doesn't work go the vet.

  8. It took my hamster a while to drink. Just wait. He might be drinking at night when he's, you know, awake.

  9. bring him a girl hamster and turn off the lights

  10. take i t to the vet

  11. i would take him to a vet because it is important for them to stay hydrated. Good Luck I hope everything works out okay.

  12. take it to the vet. dehydration can kill any living being. and for something that small, can occur quickly. also when an animal stops eating or drinking, its usually the first sign or a bigger problem. if it dosent eat or drink by the next day contact your local vet.

  13. Maybe he is and you just missed him.  Try putting water in the bottle and marking where the water line is.  Then monitor it for the next couple of days.  You should probably give him a water bottle instead of a bowl.  You can also check to see if your hamster is dehydrated by pinching the skin on the back of his neck. If it slowly returns against his body then that means he is dehydrated.  If he skin goes back against his body quickly he is alright and you do not have to worry yet.  If he is dehydrated or your just worried you could try giving him a little bit of cucumber or watermelon.  Both have a high water content and may help.  But not too much that may give him diarrhea which will cause dehydration.  If you find that he is dehydrated/not drinking call your vet.  Wish you the best of luck.

*add*Hamster are (obviously) small animals so please be careful as to how much cucumber/watermelon you give him, if any.

  14. Get a small syringe and drinp it near it's mouth.

  15. are you positive he doesn't drink when not around?

it's possible that you're just missing it.

you could call the pet store.

  16. Ask the vet or the store where you got it.

    It needs to feed.

  17. hes a idiot, it will get thirst and drink eventually. probably getting adjusted

  18. he'll get thirty at some point, and he'll start drinking. a dish is probably better though, more easily accessible

  19. make the bottle look lika t*t... make it look something like it's mother would?
