My hamster doesnt nurse at night..

my Syrian hamster doesnt nurse at night all it wants to do is get out of the cage is this normal? it had 6 pups and 4 died only 2 left! could not nursing at night be the cause?>

  1. I doubt it.

    Hamsters nurse when they want to lie down- namely, during the day- and at night they want to be active, and eat and move around themselves. It's like with rabbits- in the wild, rabbits only feed two times a day; one at dusk, and one at dawn. The rest of the time, they're away doing whatever they want- feeding, playing, whatever.

    Don't worry, the babies will be fine- if she's nursing during the day, there's not an issue. The other babies probably died because that's just what hamster babies /do/.


  2. yes at night and morning it should feed the cage might be a bit small or the babies are worried about it's mom trying to get worries and so there not sleeping!!! or somethings a distraction???i have a hamster i love hamster i know alot about them!i hoped i helped!
