  1. Hamster in general get very aggressive if you try to pick them up. The way I handle mine is place my hand even with the cage door and entice them out with a treat. Every hamster I've owned (except the robo) has been happy to come out this way pretty quickly.

From what I've read, introducing a foreign hamster will usually result in them killing the newcomer. With it being "her" cage, she was the dominant one despite size. The females will accept a male company for a short time while they are in heat only.

Dwarves are more social than the larger cousins. You can sometimes keep them with litter mates as long as they don't get seperated. Larger ones are solitary, period.

Hopefully, this helps with the bad temper in general. Also, my favorite hamster I've had was very difficult for the pet store employee to catch as well, but ended up being very sweet and social after the training to come play with the treat bribe. Berry flavored puffs were his favorite, though I've had some hamsters that wouldn't touch those and preferred the yogurt drops.

As for the water concern, make sure you have a bottle that doesn't drip. I've had hamsters decide that was where they would nest. If you really want to move the nest elsewhere, get something small and cozy for them to hide in. They'll usually nest in cover like that if it's available.

  2. first of all, never ever EVER bathe a hamster and secondly do not pair a male and a female hamster together, unless you want babies. you made two really stupid mistakes and i would seriously consider getting a new owner for your hamster and never EVER spend time around animals

  3. You should NEVER EVER get a hamster wet!!!!!!!! They cannot control their blood temp when wet and can dye from hypothermia! Use chinchilla bathing SAND to bathe your hamster instead. Your hamster bites you because you are harming it. don't put its life in danger anymore, take good care of it and it should warm up to you just fine.
