My hamster is acting reallllly weird... Please help me!?

Question

I got a hamster a couple months ago and I love her and everything but she kept doing this thing where her nose would make her head jerk up and wheeze (from the sound of it). But now it has gotten really bad, now she is wheezing even more, her mouth and nose is wet, and if you lightly squeeze her stomach she starts wheezing more! At first I thought it was allergies or something. But now I'm not sure what it is. Somebody plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help me!!!

call the local animal hospital and ask if there is anything you can do untill the vet appointment tomorrow. Dont make her feel more stressed than she already is by picking her up a whole bunch. ( since her wheezing may just get all the worse) If your hamster been bathed in the sink or gotton wet in some way it is possible that she caught a cold. It's very good that you booked an appointment for her. Try to make her feel as comfortable as she can be.... good luck and I hope your lil hammy's alright!

Hamsters can get respiratory infections that can lead to pneumonia. Signs include sneezing, discharge from eyes or nose, wheezing and labored breathing. Occasional sneezing is not too worrisome, but if there is any loss of appetite, decreased activity, wheezing or difficulties breathing, immediate veterinary attention should be sought. A course of anitbiotics would make the hamster get healthy very soon.

Also rule out the following -

Check to be sure you are not using pine or cedar shavings as the bedding in cage

Check to ensure that the cage is not near open windows or any areas where sudden drafts of wind and air can flow through the cage

Get her to the vet IMMIDEATELY.  It sounds like an upper respiratory infection and she could die from it!!!!!!!!!!

i had a hamster once...

one day i heard weazing and i looked at the cage and she was standing up holding her chest weazing so i screamed for my mum..i had to go school and when i got home she died.

go to a vet before it's to late
