He was jumping around all over his cage, going around in circles and rolling over. And he was making a type of squealing noise while doing all of this. He's never acted like this before! He has plenty of water and food, and his cage is clean. Can anybody help? Thank you!

  1. maybe he wants to be a dog ? lol

  2. Maybe he is lonly and really trying to get over it.

  3. hes probably happy or sick or is in love with a female hamster nearby if there is one

  4. If he's squeeling, he's either in pain or scared, maybe he's broken a leg and thats why he's going in circles and rolling over. However i found my hamster did this when she was dehiydrated. Check the bottle works properly, give him a small piece of fruit and see if he improves. If not i recommend taking him to the vet.

He could also have gone off food and water due to wet tail, though this usually kills a hamster before it can get dehydrated i would keep it in mind.

    Good Luck!

  5. maybe he just needs some exercise. do you have a ball for him? maye you should put him in that and let him play for a little while and drain some energy haha.

  6. There are four possibilities -

    1. He is sick and in pain and doing that or he may have hurt his feet and jumping in pain. Check the following - does he look overall healthy, is he eating and pooping properly, is he drinking enough water, does his fur look fluffy or dull, does his paws look swollen. If you feel anything is amiss in the above checkpoints, take him to a vet.

    2. Do you have a female hamster in another cage nearby. My male hamster often does all these antics to attract the female in the nearby cage.

    3. He is just generally happy and is showing it by being overly active.

    4. Did you change anything in his cage recently or clean out his cage? Hamsters being pretty possessive can behave this way if they feel something is changed in their dear home. Maybe you cleaned out his cage and he lost his collection of treats that he hoarded in the nest!

As long as he is not sick, don't worry about this behavior.

  7. How long have you had him? He is just probably playing, excited and used to you...If he's not sick, I would enjoy his funny behavior.

  8. Maybe he is preggers?  (Or maybe he wants to get preggers)
