My hamster is doing something really strange...?

Question

I got a new hamster about a week ago now, I had previously left a message about her. She had been badly treated in the pet shop, she was over weight and not being handled at all.

Things are looking up :) she's loving her wheel and ball and eating more healthily and I'm starting to manage to handle her.

The other night I got a fright as I saw her lying face first into the corner of her cage into the plastic but she was just sleeping. Phew.

Now tonight I have noticed the same thing but this time it's even weirder, she pushes her carefresh out of the corner, lies on the plastic cage floor, pushes her face into the corner and conks out??? In a split second she's asleep. Then she moves corner, does the same and even she fell asleep half way down her ladder!

Is this normal?

My hamster does the exact same sometimes! If u dont have a original bed ofr her that she hasnt discovered yet.hamster will do that.o its normal most likely!.Hope i helped and good luck!

my hamster often tries to burrow in to the corner of the cage and often falls asleep there instead of its "bed" however it seems strange that it falls asleep suddenly it possibly has "Narcolepsy" although normally found in humans it could possibly happen to a hamster, i recommend reading up on narcolepsy and if thers any cures for it. If that fails maby a vet could help it or maby a pet shop owner, they generaly know what there talking about.

my hamster use to do this and i could never figure out why. hamsters have a lot of strange antics (climbing the bars of the cage and falling, hoarding their food, etc.) the best that i can give you is, i would not be worried because a lot of hamsters do this

Has she got a bed to sleep in?  My hamster slept in a hollow coconut with some bedding in it and loved it.  I found hamsters behave pretty strangely in general and I wouldnt be too worried.

Hamsters often sleep in really wierd ways....In the pet store you can even find them stacked on top of each other and burrowed into corners. They seem to like corners and small places.

I'd think as long as she can breathe shes fine, and it is normal for hamsters to have wierd sleeping habits. I Had one that liked to sleep on his back in the middle of his cage with all feet sprawled out. :P

my dwarf hamster used to always get all the bedding out of the corner and sleep there, so thats probably normal. falling asleep on the ladder i dunno, maybe she was just tired!

My hamster sometimes falls asleep in her wheel and sometime sleeps in her food bowl! She has a about 3 beds and never sleeps in them only during winter. My hamster also sleeps in the corner of her cage. So maybe its normal.
