Question:

My hamster is driving me mad...?

I've asked this the other day but basically, my hamster is obsessed with gnawing on her cage roof. It's really damaging the cage and it's very annoying. It feels like I have tried everything. I've stimulated her with new toys, she comes out several times a night for a play, I've tried putting things on the bars to put her off, she has about 5 gnawing toys in her cage and the cage is the largest one the store had available.

Is there anything at all that I'm missing? Is there a way that I can train her not to do this? I know she's just energetic, but I'm at the end of my wick! Lovely though she is...

  1. Get a new cage. it might be the only way. I sagesst a tank.

  2. Try some hot sauce on it. I don't know what else to tell you. I would suggest try wearing the hamster out by giving her more exercise maybe in a ball.

  3. put a little bit of something sour up there. maybe get on of those little tubes of sour gel for ur local gas station or candy store. thats a temporary way that should solve ur problem. if she starts again, put a little more on there.

  4. If I were you, I would get an aquarium... its glass so she won't be able to chew through. I wouldn't know anyway to stop her. Sorry!

    Hope this helped!

  5. put it in boiling water for 5 mins, skin it, and fry the meat.

    p.s. I hope you know I'm kidding.

  6. wherever she knaws on her cage put a rubber thing on it so you dont hear the noise

  7. Hi how about you try changing the cage to a plastic one with a wire top there are ones like that made specially for hamsters. I know how annoying it is my 2 pet Syrian hamsters chew on there bars so i took them into another room and bought them both these toys which they can play in and sleep in while they are also this tasty snack and that stopped them.

    Good luck hope this helped.
