My hamster is 1yr and 5 months old, he is going bald on the back, I do not think it is old age because he is still very active and sometimes the hair grows back soon. But I am worried it could be something bad and need help.

  1. OH MY GOODNESS! Take it to a vet!!!

  2. It could still be mites, mites are so small that you can't visually distinguish them from dust particles. Look at the skin. Are there any rashes or tiny red dots? That's the clearest sign of mites or other skin parasites.

My guess is your hamster has mange. In either case, take both of your hammies to the vet.

  3. hair loss can be caused by excessive rubbing, mites, old age, or protein deficiency. try feeding your hamster some chicken or a meal worm once a week and if it does not go away, go to a vet

  4. Do he rub alot on something? Small tunnels that he goes through? Might be mites. Are you sure that he's that age? If you got him from the pet store, he might be older than you think.
