My hamster last week i took him to the vets beacuse he had conjuntivtous, they gave me some cream and its helped his hair grow around his eye but his eye is still sticking :( i should have gone the vets two days later but it was difficult, so today ive took him, and yesderday he keep l*****g him self quite alot down below at the rear end, and i found a lump, when i picked him up yesderday i noticed he become alot more heavier :S , but his eating and drinking fine, and he loves his wheel.

I had to leave him at the vets today over night to be admitted and there going to give him an anastetic so they can open the eye up, now i have found this lump im really worried, plus on top of that his going to have all these things done to him surgery, anastetic, check up, there were all ticked :( Its all going to cost a bomb :( only brought him a few weeks ago. Ive taken him to the PDSA so its a little cheaper, but they never tell me anything before hand, so then i have no choice but to pay.

  1. Most vets will give you a cost estimate before hand. You can also set an amount that if treatment is going to go over it, they need to discuss it with you first.  Vet bills shouldn't be a huge shock when you go to pick up your pet.

  2. I feel so sad for you just watching your hamster go into surgery like that is terrible. I really hope he makes it through. Dont worry about the bump, its just to prove he is a male. The chances of it being a tumbor is one in a million. Just calm down your hamster should be fine. I hope your hamster makes it out like mine.

  3. I dont no whats wrong im sorry :( but just wanted to wish you look with him, hope he gets better soon!

And I agree, I don't mind paying vet prices cause my pets need it, but they are so ridiculous!

  4. i really hope your hamster will be OK but you say to the vet you want you hamster diagnosed correctly and you do not want to come back again and pay more money

  5. I don't mind paying vet's bills either but a lot of the time, the prices are ridiculous! I guess it helps them fund the more expensive treatment/surgeries though :-s

A lot of the time, a lump at the rear end just confirms our hamster's a male. I hope it's isn't anything more.

Fingers crossed for your hamster - I hope he gets better :)

  6. It sounds like she has tummers like my old cat, we had to put him down.
