My hamster is plump ?

i don't know if this is animal cruelty but i only feed my hamsters sun flower seeds (no salt) and well she's really plump and she's a dwarf hamster she doesn't bite she's plump though

can hamsters die from clogged arties?

Yes they can have heart disease and can die if they are not given the proper foods in their diets. Only giving sunflower seeds is not the thing you should be feeding your hamster. If you want to keep your hamster healthy then you need to feed him small amounts of fruits and vegetables as well as a good hamster food.

a hamster gets fat from eating too many sunflower seeds.

go to your pet store and buy a bag of quality hamster and gerbil food. kaytee is a good brand. its like 2.50 a bag. feed the hamster 2 teaspoons a day.

dude, take better care of your animal please. how would you feel if you were forced to live off of just cheetos?

Well no wonder you hamster is plump lol to many sunflower seeds. Sunflower seeds Should be used as a treat not a food. Sunflower seeds cause hamsters to gain weight fast. Its not animal cruelty but its not healthy. And yes it could cause your hamster to die earlier then if she wasn't so over weight. But don't worry If you cut back on the sunflower seeds. Get a food for hamsters with no sunflower seeds in the mix. Try some other treats (in moderation of course) such as strawberries, Peanuts, even dog biscuits (they like to chew). It is bad for any small animal and birds to eat seeds everyday, because it is like eating McDonald's everyday for us. Go buy it real pellets, real hamster food. And yes, hamsters can die from clogged arties.

You should really get some hamster food.Its best for them.Give it some treats once and a while (1-4 times a week) And get it normal food.Does she have a wheel? if she doesnt get her one,And a exercise ball too! that will help.Hope i helped and good luck!

like any small animal, hamsters are prone to cancer and tumors...if you continue to feed a high in fat (and protien) diet (like the sunflower seeds) you will increase the risk that your hamster will die from cancer, tumor, or any other diseases that comes with high fat/high protien food and too much food.

If you want to continue using sun-flower seeds ONLY feed 2 teaspoons a day,,.that is really the max I'd feed a hamster. They are small animals, so they don't need alot of food
