my hamster is very sqermish and he is scared of me.when i ty to pick him up he runs away.answer asap

Well most hamsters are like that...

make sure u dont try to pick him up unless u&#039;ve had him for 2 weeks or longer and also, when u try to pick him up, move your hands really slowly so you dont scare him. Do that everyday and eventually he&#039;ll get used to it. You could also buy hamster treats or whatever and put them in your hand &amp; wait for him to come to you.

you need to build up a strong trust bond with him to get him to trust you hand feed him this helps him recognise your smell and talk to him when so he recognises your voice

well i  used to have hamsters and i used to work in a pet store and i know that most hamsters do that with everyone. it doesn&#039;t matter if u own them for a long time or not.   my advice is to just keep trying to hold them and over time they will let you hold them and not be scared at all.  just remember all they know is ur bigger than them and that is scary lol just be gentle.

How long have you had him? If you haven&#039;t had him for long then its normal, in fact its normal anyway. Okay, well in the wild a hamsters predator is like a bird, and if you think about it a human hand looks a lot like a birds talon, so its just instinct. Once you hold him he shoudl be okay.

Hamsters never stop moving anyway, their not the type of pet that will sit still for cuddles. Try tempting him with a treta or fresh food, like maybe a bit of chicken or lettuce or whatever he likes to eat. You need to get him to trust you before you start picking him up. So I recommed you feed him through the cage bars and then once he starts coming to you for food, place a bit of food in the palm of your hand and see if he will come sit on it, if he sits on it don;t pick him up just let him sit on it and then get off, and keep doing this until he learns that food appears on your hand and then after a while when he sits on your hand pick him up.

Also don;t hold him round the middle, its incomfortable for him, hamsters prefer to be held flat in the palm of your hand, they don;t stop moving so make like steps wit your hands for him to walk over. Once you pick him up a few times he will get used to it and stop being so scared.

If he&#039;s relatively new let him get used to you and his surroundings, try sticking your hand in with a treat and let him come to you. Don&#039;t force him let him accept you if you don&#039;t he&#039;ll never feel safe with you.
