Well I have a Habitrail Safari and playground plus alot of add-ons. So Anyways Yesterday I decided to give him one of the bed add-ons i have. So anyways all he has to do is go down a tube and get to it. But he had his face Beside the opening to get in it for the entire night. (With my other hamster It was a little bit farther away but he quite enjoyed it and didnt act like that.)

So my question is Is he getting any airflow to his bed or should i just remove it?

(He just moved to the main cage.)

  1. Usually hamsters are the best judges of their sleeping places since they would know if there is air flow in a particular area or not. In the wild, they are burrowing animals used to sleeping underground so they would know naturally if they have enough air flow in their sleeping habitat or not. I am sure if he was uncomfortable, he would have shifted his bedding area instantly.

But if it makes you still worried that he might not be getting enough circulation, why not make some small holes in the bed add on (I guess it is plastic) so that you can be doubly sure that he is getting air circulation.

I had a similar problem with some tubes that I had got for attaching. My hamster put her bedding in the tube but shifted soon since she found it uncomfortable. I guessed it was due to bad air circulation. So I made some extra holes in the tubes for her. My guess turned right when after three days, she again happily made the tube her bedding place.
