My hamster is eating and playing normally. He doesn't limp or seem to be in pain. The toe is light pink and slightly swollen. I don't know how he lost his nail. Is there anything I can do to help him?

  1. He will be fine, just make sure that his toe isn't infected if it becomes infected in the next few days bring him to the vet hope i helped =]

  3. i dont think you can do anything just keep an eye on him

But DO take it to the VET

  4. It may be getting infected if it's swollen. Take him to a Vet.

  5. Take him to the vet IMMEDIATELY it may get infected or your hamster may need an antibiotic or something...

  6. I would take him to a vet, infections can spread. I don't know about you but if anything just fell of my dog he'd be at the vet before he knew why his leash was on.

  7. Put him outside at night and let a helpful owl solve your problem for free.

  8. no

  9. I would keep an eye on it for a day or so and see if it looks irritated, like if the swelling doesn't go down or if it looks abnormally dark pink.  If it doesn't look better, definitely take it to the vet.  My cat once lost a nail, it must've gotten hooked on something and was ripped out, and I did take him to the vet.  We had to use a paper litter for a while until it healed and also applied a anti-bacterial fluid daily to keep it from getting infected.

  10. sounds like an infection....

how did he lose the nail?

how about you call the vet and see what they say?

unless there are some online!  :)

  11. he'll be ok.

  12. you could handle him abd check it. if it looks bad, take it to a vet. if it doesn't look serious, then take good care of him and check the toe once a day.

  13. I would take him to the vet

  14. Check in a day or two to see if there is an infection.  Other than that, no need to worry.
