he has always got a wet pach on his side and is getting one on his noise why

i have had him for a while now and he is a syrian !

Regardless of the water bottle idea, which could be true...it is much more likely that your hamster is l*****g it's glands.

Sounds odd, but this is very common around this time of year - as it would be mating season. By l*****g it's glands the hamster would well, attract other hamsters.

Do not worry, the wet patch on it's nose is only from the l*****g.

The wet patch should be just before the hamsters hip.

Your hamster will be fine and this is perfectly natural, he should stop in a month or so.

He could have been sleeping under his water bottle.

Does it look like poo smeared on his coat? If so, could be wet tail. If you see signs of wet tail, call your vet immediately.

As said above by Chowder, it's very possible that your hamster is sleeping under its water bottle. For a non-drip water bottle, I would recommend either the brands of Oasis or Marchioro.

It's very common that hamsters would sleep under their water bottles, especially in the summer, because they are hot. I would definitely recommend taking a cool, but not cold rag each day, and just dabbing it on your hamster, to keep him cool.

If you see other signs of wet tail, such as loss of appetite, lethargic hamster, and other symptoms, please contact your vet immediately.

I agree with the previous post, it's probably his glands, my hamster often looks wet on both sides when he has been l*****g himself. If you move the fur you can probably see them, they look like moles on my hamster. They only develop after a certain age, so when you first buy a hamster they usually don't have them, but then develop them after a few weeks. My hamster does this all year though, I didn't realise it was supposed to be only at certain times of year, maybe he needs a lady friend!
