My hamster won't drink from his bottle?

I just recently got a new teddy bear hamster around 6-10 weeks old and for some reason I don't see it drinking out of his water bottle. Besides that he acts perfectly normal, during the day he is sleepy and eats a bit and burrows in his bedding, and while he's up and at night he runs on his wheel like crazy. I tried washing out a bottle cap and filling it with water, it seems like he drank it, but I don't want to continue doing that. I also tried introducing him to the bottle, what should I do?

  1. well make sure dat is not to high or to low it has to be in the middle also u can tell if u hamster is drinking water if u fill the bottle all the  way and u can see the next day it won't be all the way mostly hamsters drink wen ur sleeping or wen u outside playing with ur friend etc.  I hope this help

  2. Ok. Hamsters ARE nocturnal, (means active at night) so it's probably drinking at night. Maybe you can try holding your hamster, hold it in front of the cage, and drip some water out of its bottle, and try and get it to drink. If you're feeding lots of veggies, it's probably getting most of its liquids from the veggies. GOOD LUCK! Give it LOTS and LOTS of TLC!! *^^*

  3. he is probably just not drinking from it in the day but at night so you wouldn't know, my hammy did the same thing and nealy worried me to death but turns out she was just more active at night so that is when he drank and ate

  4. well he might just drink when ur not looking OR he doesnt know how to drink out of it yet

so what i did was grab my hamster (in a way so he wouldnt bite me)

and then put his mouth on the water and make him taste it atleast, that way he will know how to drink out of it
