My hands and feet are swollen like I ate too much salt, but I didn't eat salt.

What else might cause swelling in the extremeties, and is there anything herbal I can take to undo it?

  1. I think you should call your doctor ASAP or go to the nearest ER to check it out.I am sorry,it's not about salt because if you have healthy kidney you'll  not have a problem with water retention .

    It's a sign of something is wrong because it could be anything & you should not wait.

  2. If you have been eating often in resturants you are getting more salt than you realize.It could be MSG also.

    You did not mention your age, it would help to give a better answer.

    Another poster gave excellent advice on drinking water. Also avoid all sodas.

    Do not bother with emergency room...the docs there do not want to see you if you are not broken, bleeding or having a heart attack.

  3. Could be many reasons for swelling. One for sure is fluid retention. Got to drink plenty of water as it keeps the toxins flushed out makes u pee more and helps stop the swelling.

    Have u been on a flight lately? Keep legs elevated, and gentle massage hands and feet.

    If it does get worse u should seriously think about getting in contact with ur doctor. Best of luck.
