Question:

My hands are really dry since doing housework...?

I have recently been doing a load more house work, literally spring cleaning everyday.

The last couple of days my fingers and palms have become disgustingly dry!

I have been using quite a few different hand creams and lotions etc but they don't seem to be getting any better. I have always had extremely soft hands so this is really bugging me now because I don't want to be a housewife that has really dry skin from housework... any idea?

  1. you need to soak them for a few minutes in moisturizing soap/water mix, then exfoliate with a loofah.  After drying use a good moisturizing lotion or cream, maybe wear gloves for an hour to let it really penetrate.

  2. Yea, I do.  You won't like it, but it works.  Ya know those cheapy little gloves that you buy that don't do anything for the cold winter days?  They sell them at WalMart for like 2 bucks.  Buy a pair or two of those and a huge jar of Vaseline.  At night, slather your hands in the Vaseline and put the gloves on.  (It also works with feet and socks.)  I used to work in framing dealing with paper, paper mats and glass cleaning.  My hands got so dry they bled.  I learned this many years ago.  If you do this every day for a week, the gloves will become soaked in Vaseline and you can stop putting it on, but keep putting the gloves on.

I still have three pair of V soaked gloves in my sock drawer.  by the way, they're cotton fibre-the stretchy kind of gloves.

    Hope I helped.

  3. Well if you were using sprays and cleaning liquids maybe that is the cause. If you were cleaning dust area yet again and maybe you are allergic to something. Maybe you just have sensitive skin and it has caught onyo something.

  4. The best cream to use is Eucerin.  It isn't a lotion its an ointment made for dry skin.  It is a little expensive but works great.  So does Keri.

  5. Go get a sample of Estee Lauder Overnight serum. Its the brown bottle one.

  6. k.....this is gonna sound gross but vaseline cures all ills when it comes to dry skin and lips.

i use it all the time and you can also get it in a moisturisers

    hope it helps

  7. put oats in water and soak them. or soak ur hands in milk,

  8. you should use gloves, because cleaners, amoung other things and dry out your hands and skin.

  9. My feet and heels get really dry.  What works for me is vaseline.  I put vaseline on at night and then put socks over my feet so it soaks in during the night.  It heals the cracks and makes them soft.  You could do this for your hands, but put gloves on to lock that moisture in.  Even if you don't put gloves on, it should help. Try it a couple of times and that should do the trick.

In fact, in the winter, I often put it on my face before bed too (which a towel on my pillow).
