  1. it depends on whether you are power punching it or just working on combination, if you want to go at the punching bag but you hands are hurting, don't work on strength, work on how you can use different combinations in a match.

    Hope it helps.

could you check out my question, i need help.

    cheers

  2. For one, always make sure you're hands are wrapped and wrapped correctly. Start around the thumb, crossing over the top of the hand. Alternating a criss cross over the hand with fingers spread open and then the wrist with hands in a tight fist. After a couple patterns, cover the knuckles and finish at the wrist.

Also, make sure you are wearing decent gloves. I always preferred the 16oz gloves over the little bag gloves. They provide more protection and with the extra weight gives you a good workout.

Give the hands a rest for a day and do something else like jump rope. Soak them in cold water if they seem to be swollen, and warm water if not. If they still are sore after another day or two, think about going to the doctor. Your hand has all kinds of bones and stuff where tons of things can go wrong. I once got a contusion, like a bruise inside the hand. The doctor said it would have been easier if I just broke it.

  3. Just let them rest!!!you should shadow box and work on combinations

  4. no you should wait till they aren't soar. with all the injuries that can happen in boxing you want to be careful and take care of your body. when your hands heel you need to get wraps, and better gloves. are you punching the bag w/out gloves? you should never do this if you are.

you should still shadow box and do all of the other training you can do. I would strongly sugest going to crossfit.com and get ideas for workouts from there.

  5. give your a hands a rest dude, shadow box and/or kick the bag

  6. Oh god no!  Thru the day flex your hands off and on. Wait a couple days untill the soreness has subsided.

  7. unless you want your hands to be even more sore than no, just do some shadow boxing, pushups maybe, sit ups, and stuff like that.

  8. my questions are, why are they sore? are you wearing the right gear for bag punching? are your hands taped for power punching? are your hands clenched good enough when you punch? what kind of punching bag do you have? is the punching bag too heavy for your weight class? if you know the answers to these questions, you might have a better approach in starting your boxing regimen and avoid discomfort and injuries.

You could give your hands some rest. i suggest you stagger the exercise into light bagging one day and power bagging the next , and put a time limit so as not to overdo yourself.
