Question:

My hard drive lists an inaccurate size

I have a 177Gb hard drive in my comp. My computer recently crashed, so I had to use the recovery partition to restore my OS. At the time I had about 80Gb free space. When I finished restoring everything, I began re downloading my old apps and other things. Since most of my data was gone I figured I should have more space, but when I checked my harddrive the other night, it said only had 45Gb free space. I deleted unnecessary apps, used the administrative tools to free up disc space and everything in between. I even used TuneUp Utilities to clear out unnecessary data. I got to about 52Gb free space on my C drive. It said that 125Gb was used, but when I go inside my C drive and highlight everything (all folders and files) it says that only 58Gb is being used. Anyone know how to fix this?

  1. Install and run this http://sourceforge.net/projects/windirst... it will show you all there is on your hd; delete or fix what you don't want.

  2. Take a look at this other Yahoo Answer, I think it also will help address your problem.
