When it does, everything slows way down. The drive is a Toshiba MK 8025 GAS. 80GB with about 1/2 used. I have 2 GB memory. I rarely use more than 1 GB of the memory. I have scanned for viruses and Malware. I have run diagnostic programs on the hard drive and it checks fine I am running XP SP2.
