My health ins. is being canceled april3. do you get 30 days grace for this?

My new ins. will not kick in till the 30th.I thought there was a law that you have 30 days.

  1. If it cancels April 3 -- then April 3 would be the last day of coverage.

    However, your best bet is to check with your health ins co or HR department to be sure.


  2. No, there's no grace period.  If it's being cancelled April 3rd, then at 12:01am, April 3rd, you have no coverage.  

    There's no law.  There's no "free" health insurance for a month - or six - after it gets cancelled. Cancelled means, cancelled.

  3. Most states require a 30 day grace-period.  If your insurance company has sent you a notice that you will no longer have coverage as of April 3rd then that date is the end of your grace period.
