My heart beats at almost 100 beats per minute should i be concerned?

sometimes i can feel my heart beating fast in my chest without touching it and i worry if this is very unhealthy. what can i do to reduce my heart rate if it is unhealthy?

  1. hi my boyfriend had the same thing but usually it said if it beats over 1 hundred per minute it wasnt healthy or life threatening but can be but in your case get urself cheaked just in case but sometimes it can be ur just nervous or u proble counted wronge try again each time u feel relaxed and stay calm it can jsut be a false alarm but its good to keep trying...but most important ggo to the doctors.it made my bf feel better knowing he was completly healthy hope this helps


  2. Anxietyy, alcohol, caffeine and smoking can be contributary causes.

    If it worries you see your doctor, he will put your mind at rest.

    Some people do have a rapid heart beat, others can have a very slow beat and the rest are in between.

Yes.  A resting heart rate should be around 60 - 70 beats per minute.  Your heart rate could be elevated for several reasons;  caffeine, sugar, body temperature.  Try to relax and give it a little time.  If it doesn't come down that's a problem that you should see a doctor for.  It could also be a very out of shape heart.  Regular exercise is the answer for that.  I'm sure you know whether that may be your problem or not.

  4. Is this your resting heart rate your talking about? Ideally the average pulse reading should be about 70 or anywhere from 60-90 can be considered normal range. One consultant Neurologist told me recently that some studies now suggest a normal range is anything from 60-120. Various factors can increase ones pulse, Caffeine etc. Having a fast pulse generally isn't always an issue unless your symptomatic. It's irregular heart beats that are the issue. Having a pulse of 100 is just bordering on Tachycardia. If you are over weight is it always a good idea to try and lose weight, with a reduced calorie diet and healthy exercise, and if your smoking stop! See your GP for a check up, just to be on the safe side as this also could be an indication of Hyper-Thyroidism or simply anxiety, never the less, it's best to get checked out. Your GP will also confirm it's OK to exercise and there isn't any pathology there.

    Do consider if there are any life style changes you can make, obesity and smoking are two main causes of an elevated pulse.
