My heels hurt after running. What could be the problem.?

Okay so I ran the 600 meter today and when I was about halfway finished my heels started killing me and they ended up that way for the rest of the day. Actually, they still hurt right now. If anyone can help I want to know what I did wrong. It might be because of my shoes (I was wearing a pear of those vans off the wall slip ons) and they have very little support. But I can't help but think that there might have been another cause. Can anyone help? And if you can give advice on healing them better that would be greatly appreciated.

  1. It has every bit to do with your shoes. I have converse slip ons and they kill me even just walking. Get some good Newbalance or nike shoes, or just anything with a good sole-support and your

feet will feel MUCH better when running. Also, running with bad heel support will eventually take a toll on your back and spinal stuff. I hope this helped :)

  2. ..

It's really hard to tell without closely examining your foot.  It would be safe for you to ice it, rest it, compress it for a few days, and for many people to take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory over-the-counter drug like aspirin, tylenol, naproxen sodium, ibuprofen (btw, this is NOT medical advice, merely a description).

After a few days of ice, rest, and compress, if it's still a problem, I'd take it to your coach / trainer / and even a sports doctor.

Lots of things can be happening, none of which is good; but few that is extremely long lasting.

By indicating both heels are hurting, it could be your shoes; or an inadequate warmup.

    Other injuries come to mind:

    -soft tissue bruise

-bone bruise (yes, bone does bruise!)

-possibly plantar fascitis, though that more often emanates from the arch of the foot

Once again, lots of ice, compress, rest.  And talk to whatever adult you normally talk to about the anti-inflammatories.

    Regards,

    Phil

  3. well to start get a pair of running shoes. and probably whats happening is your running and putting too much weight on your heels. when you run you put 5 times your body weight on your feet. the 600 meter is a short race so it should be run on your toes anyway.  hope this helps!

  4. u might have flat foot ummm flat foot is when ur foot is flatter than normal people..normal people have like a curvy circle thing in the middle of their foot...oh and if u do got it then get use to it cuz yur feet will hurt...i have flat foot and i still were my vans haha it wont make it feel better but oh well! LOL ooo if u do have flat foot u should use those foot supporters thingys that go in yur shoe... WELL HOPE THIS HELPS!!! p.s try to stand the pain! LOL :]

  5. it could just be sore from running, so ice it. or it could be your shoes. try a different pair and see if it works better.

  6. it could just be a little sore. every runner will sometimes get little pains in their feet and ankels and stuff. or if your a beginner, your feet are just used to the feeling of running a lot more than usual. so dont try and get too worried about it. but if the pain continues to worsen, go see your doctor about it. he'll hopefully know what to do ( if he doesn't, get a new doctor)

  7. Trash the vans slipons

ICE twice a day for 15-20 minutes (protect your heels from the ice of course)

If you still have pain by Friday, get to a sports medicine doctor.
