My hermit crab pinched me!?

yes,he might have gotten scared,if you lowered your hand real fast he might have thought he was getting dropped and "grabbed" anything he could (so he wouldn't fall),they aren't mean animals.

only hold it when your near a sink! if it pinches you then put him under burning hot water if he dosent let go! They get scared.....and wont hurt it...!

Hermit crabs are not nasty creatures by nature. In fact they often use thier pinchers to grip onto things they are holding or if they are climbing something and they need grip. When holding him make sure you keep your hands free of his pinchers and that your hands don't smell like hermit crab food. (they can smell with their feeler things on their heads) or else he make mistake your hand for food. Maybe he was just trying to get a grip and make sure he doesn't fall when you were holding him. I doubt it was done out of meanness.

When my mom was little, she had a hermit crab, and brought it to her class for Show and Tell, and then it pinched the skin between her thumb and index finger and wouldn't let go.....

Needless to say, they got rid of it.

yes ,although I don't know why . . . . Yes you can hold it again ,but I will say wait ,maybe until tomorrow if it was really bad ,if not just give it its own ,space.For sometime like just 30 minutes.Don't worry be friendly to it! Feed it and all ,maybe it wasn't getting enough attention from you lately and he/she just wanted to get all anger out! Don't worry I am sure you are friends and just stay friendly and wait some time ! :)

IF YOUR HERMIT CRAB BITES YOU YOU CAN HOLD IT AGAIN JUST BE CAREFULL AND IF THEY PINCH AND DONT LET GO TURN ON WARM WATER AND PUT IT ON THE CRAB AND IT WILL LET GO
