The blower on my home AC unit stop working, so I looked at the pull-out switch that's hooked up to the unit, and it looked burn out, so I replaced it, but could not find just the copper prons, so I bought the whole fuse box, with the old one, I still could hear the unit running but not the blower, and with the new one I only hear a "clicking" noise coming out of the unit but nothing happens, not even the compressor comes on, is there any other switch that I need to reset when changing a switch or a fuse? I'm trying to do a little bit of D.I.Y. before I call a tech guy, so any info would be most appreciate!!

  1. I am a tech guy, 35 years worth. Your information is a little sketchy. The outdoor unit, the condenser, is powered separately from your furnace/blower indoors. Check both sources before calling.

  2. Your contactor may be fried. A pull out is for safety. All a yank out does is kill the power going into the unit for servicing purposes. It is there by law(required). It is not a fusable link or a breaker. The breaker is probably in the main panel. Make sure it ain't flipped. The breaker will usually flip if their is a burned wire on the compressor OR the capacitor has swollen and shorted out . The clicking you hear is the sound of the low voltage coil yanking in the contacts on the contactor. If the the larger wires which pull the current are not hot then the unit will not run. Check for 240 volts at the point of the yank out.
