Question:

My home is falling apart! Help!?

My entire bedroom ceiling completely fell and is laying on my bedroom floor. My insurance won't cover it because they said it was due to natural setteling of the house. I have been looking carefully around my house to see what else might have caused this and I have noticed that the cinder block walls in my basement are starting to crumble near the floor. I can replace the ceiling myself, but I have no idea how to fix the cinder blocks. Any suggestions?

  1. call 911

  2. I would invest in a thorough inspection by a professional inspector (the type of inspection people do before purchasing a house).

That way you'll know what is going on and what needs to be fixed and what is just cosmetic.  After that it's a matter of finding skilled people to do the word - try a local builders' association or ask your neighbors for recommendations.

    Good luck.

  3. I am no expert, but I would think you would have to lift the house and re-do the basement since it is already being compromised and crumbling.   Maybe in the interim you could just try to patch it with concrete, but I wouldn't think that would be a lasting solution.

  4. I think you'd better get a reputable contractor or structural engineer in to look at your foundation.  They may have to jack parts of the house up and replace sections.  Good luck!

  5. Girl u just need to get the h**l out of there! b4 the ceilin fall on ur azs. lol

  6. Sounds like a possible foundation problem. Which isnt going to be a cheap fix

  7. HOW OLD IS YOUR HOUSE?!

  8. call a contractor to see whats going on

  9. this isnt good at all. your going to want to move ASAP or call a contractor and expect to pay a TON of money. the foundation of your house needs repaired and thats a huge investment. id try to fix the ceiling fast and then move as soon as you can and get out before the house falls down.. seriously.

  10. Consult with several home repair experts. Its important to have the repairs done right. Have them look at the area and provide you with quotes for the work.

  11. it sounds like you may want to start looking for a new home
