My home theater system keeps cutting out?

i have a JVC mx-s4 home theater system. i`ve replaced the speakers as they had water damage. ever since whenever there is a sharp bass kick the system cuts out for 5 seconds and comes back online. it never gets hot and it is completely clean. the system doesn't even have to be loud for it to do this. this is not a big problem but i would like to listen to my music louder with more bass.

  1. edit: not having a high enough rated output power on a surge protector can cause audio/video problems

Did you use the system with the water damaged speakers BEFORE replacing them?

If so, you could have damaged the amp that drives the speakers if the coils on the speakers were shorted due to corrosion which would cause a larger current draw from the driver.

  2. Sounds like it's being overloaded. Are you running 4ohm (or even 6 ohm) speakers? And if you are, does the manual say that the system can support them?
