  1. SHEEET,,,,,

OK, step one, get the info off the pack of insecticide.  There is always a hot line number.  Call them with specific questions about SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF OVER EXPOSURE,,, POISONING, ETC.

Have them fax, email, what ever a copy of the MSDS for the product.  This is paperwork that shows both the chemical constituants for the product, as well as signs of over exposure and first aide (although for humans) in case of over exposure.  If you don't have a fax, have them fax it to your large animal vet.

Interagate the last user of the product, to find out how much product was there, when they put it back, so you can get an idea about the worst possible case of exposure.  IE,,,the bag was 1/2 full, now it is 1/4 full,,,,, worse case,,,,horse has 1/4 bag.

Remove the feed, AND THE WATER.

Has anyone used the product recently, in an area where the runoff could have been injested by the horse.  Are you sure it's in the feed, etc. etc. etc.

Did anyone dust the horse with any thing,,,, as most of these products enter the system of the animal faster through the skin, than even if they ate it.  "Look on MSDS for ABSORBTION",,,,

You are trying to figure out, if this is the problem, and not just that,,,, there is a bag by the feed.

Now a horse is a big animal, so it will take some significant amount to kill your horse.  Trace will not normally do it.

MSDS, VET,,,,, clean everything,,,, muck the stall,,,, etc. etc. etc.

    OK, that's the short answer,,,,,

  2. Call the vet! It may be serious!
