My horse has a weird stuff growing under and in her mane! What is it? How can I cure it? PLEASE help me!!!!!!

I have a 23 year old leopard appaloosa. She has strange fungus like stuff growing under her mane and in her mane. It is a yellowish color and it is hard. It is pulling her hair so its pulling her skin it looks very painful. Please tell me what it is and how to cure it. thanks for the help! BYE.

take it to a vet.

Wash her hair and comb it when its wet.

It might be a fungus.

It sounds like rain rot possibly. Research it on the web, there are several answers on how to cure it out there. I haven't really had to deal with this problem before, but from what I see, MTD and Iodine might work well. Good luck!
