This has been a problem for about a year and a half. We have tried bending him to the inside, the outside, doing it on a circle. Nothing. Then he became ring sour and wouldn't move. A chiropractor came to see him said to stop cantering and just let him build up his strength. No one could work with him for a while until we had a trainer come in and the just got him moving again, then I took over his training and we got to cantering again because we have been just only trotting for about half a year now. Now we're having the same problems, he will pick it up on a lounge line, sometimes. But other than that, nothing. I thought maybe side reins? but idk. He's an ex race horse by the way. but extremly lazy. So does anyone know what else I can do?

  1. I would suggest bringing out the chiropractor again. Most likely, there is something bothering his back or legs that's making him not want to move. Usually, an equine chiropractor has to work on the horse every so often (some horses more often than others) to keep them in the correct alignment.
