  1. Mineral block would be the easiest and fastest way- I believe the red ones have all sorts of minerals plus salt (which every horse needs).

  2. Red meat!  No, really.  Howrses love filet mignon.

  3. Mineral block they last forever and horses tend to like them.

  4. Fancy way to disguise your HOWRSE questions!!!!

But since there's a helpful vibe in here today, I'll help :)

the answer is all except red meat

  5. A mineral block (usually red or brown, not the white salt blocks) should be accessible to horses who are not on a high-supplemented diet. However, unlike the poular belief, not all horses need it. There can be large amounts of selenium, magnesium, and sodium in these blocks, ingredients that are also found in alot of high-quality feeds and supplements. At high levels, these minerals can make your horse sick.

In addition, if your horse is in need of mionerals, the mineral block is not the best option, as you cannot control the amount he may consume. For a healthy horse, a mineral block is fine. For a horse who needs minerals in it's diet, supplements are easier to control. There are several supplements out there, but the one I've had the most sucess with is Accel (by Farnam, I believe.) It has all the important micro-nutrients, minerals, and vitamins that every horse needs, and it's very inexpensive compared to other supplements. As a bonus, it has some biotin in it for glossy coats and healthy feet, and probiotic for digestive aid.

  6. I'm not an expert in animals but I would think that you should do the mineral block anyway.

I have a friend that gives her horse a liquid supplement that she also uses for herself.

If you would like, contact me and I can put you in contact with her to find out more from her.

  7. mineral block.
