  1. try to de-spook him, lead him around things that he isn't used to being around such as bags, shadows, things hanging from above, wooden walkways. Introducing him to new things is best to do inside an arena, riding ring, or a round pen. It is best to lead him or walk beside him and take things slow, don't push him to get too close too fast. Take your time, breathe, talk to him and reward him when he does well.

  2. When a horse spooks, it is not very nice for either the horse or the rider. When your horse spooks, take a minute, after calming him down, to think. What did he spook at? What do you think would be the reason for this? How can you overcome it? For example, if  a horse spooks at poles on the floor, it may be because they are new to him. First you would let your horse take in the appearance of the poles, then try to walk him over with you leading him, gently encouragin him with your voice. If this goes sucessfully, praise him and try this mounted. Once you have got it in walk whilst riding, move it up a gait until your horse realises that poles are not really scary. This may take time and patience. Make sure you don't try everything at once. Give your horse a break every so often. If you can't seem to calm the spooking problem maybe you could get someone else to try, such as an instuctor or trainer. If both of these fail, you may want to try devices such as blinkers, to stop your horse seeing what is going on around him.

    Hope this helped.

  3. most of em do...try blinders, blinkers, etc (thats what there for)

  4. Hey,

I've had alot of horses to work with like that.

First, if your riding or walking with your horse and you

have a nice strong bond with him, your horse would want

you there for the spook. For example, when your on the ground walking with him and he spooks, just try not

to respond to quickly. Just take it easy and coax him,

    tell him it's okay.

Then walk him up to anything that might have been the

problem. Let him smell it and touch it, make sure your

coaxing him through it all. It never hurts to touch the object yourself and show him it's okay.

In the Saddle, you can do pretty much the same just

no matter the little spook, be there for him. Let him know

that the object isn't gunna bite his face off. =D

Also, make sure that whatever he's spooking

at isn't going to harm you.

Remember, horses usually know when somthing is up.

    =D

    i hope i helped you.

    :] Saadia.
