My horse licks me!!?

you know how dogs l**k you to say like thanks, or i love you? well when iv been petting my horse for like 10 seconds he licks my face. it's really cute. and after i hop off and roll my stirrups he itches his head on my leg and licks me. its super cute but i was wondering if he does it as like a sign of affection?

Yes you taste salty when you sweat, and yes girls sweat as much as boys.  That is why your horse likes to l**k you.

Yep I agree with the other person that said it's because of the salty taste.

The salty taste comes from sweating. We (humans)  sweat out a certian amount of salt  and that is left on the skin for a while until the next time we wash up.

my 12 yr old QH gelding and my 5 yr old QH gelding both do that! they're so funny.usually they just come up and l**k my hands.I agree w/ the others that its prolly because of the salt in our sweat,but sumtimes I think it is a sign of affection 2.just don't let him start biting!

Well, I know for a fact that everyone else's horse does it because they taste salty, but Mine do it because they LOVE me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

most likely, you taste salty and he likes it.  Some horses will l**k you being playful but just watch that so that they do not progress to using teeth - not allowed.

try buying him a salt block so he can l**k it in his paddock, it gives him extra minerals and salt that he needs but some horses do l**k we had a horse that used to thank you like that

Just be careful he doesn't want a bite of the salt..it can happen very innocently....be aware!!

ha ha my uncles horse did that! She had to be put down last year, was to old, very sad.

But she would always l**k my jackot, and my hands lol.

it was really sweet!

but my other uncles horse BITES! and it hurts! lol.

My mare just loves her ears scrated by my dad. i cant seem to do it right lol

well hands are salty so he licks you but be careful sometimes horses get a little carried away and might bite you but it could also be a sign of affection
