I am really bored and I was wondering what I can make or do for my horse? I just got him yesterday and have already got him everything he needs but what can I do while I am just sitting around at home. Make a collage? Treats? Any ideas?? Also if you know of any good horse treats send me the recipe!

Thanks

  1. Can you go out and brush and curry your horse, comb his mane and tail, clean out his feet and put hoof flex on them?  That should keep anyone busy.

  2. Go out and groom him for a while. It will help you bond more. Or start a memory book of him. Kind of like a baby book. document the first time you saw him up until now. Later on you can add more to it.

Here are some recipies, they are all no bake except the last one. If you don't have any molasses you can subsitute corn syrup. You can also substitue another fruit or veggie for one if you don't have it.

    Boo's Oatmeal Mash

1/2 cup dry oatmeal- cook according to package directions

1 large carrot or apple- sliced into chunks.

         1 tsp brown sugar

Mix together well, serve warm. Be prepared with the camera for pictures of oatmeal wiskers.

    Sweet Potato Sandwiches

       1 carrot, gratted

       1 apple, chopped

1/2 c. oats  - if you still don't have any feed, plain oatmeal will work

1/4 cup molasses or corn syrup

1 sweet potato, sliced to 1/4 inch thick

Mix ingredints, except sweet potato ina bowl. Mixture should be thick. Spread a thick layer of mix over a slice of sweet potato and serve or cover with a 2nd slice to make a sandwich.

    Carrot Hors(e) d'Oeuvers

       White or wheat bread

       1 carrot diced

       Honey

Cut slided bread inot 1" squares. Arrange on a serving platter and place a piece of carrot on top. Top off with a bit of honey

    Granny's Favortie Apples

1 granny smith apple, quatered (you can use another kind of apple)

      1/4 cup sugar

      1 tbs honey

      1/2 cup raisins

      1 cup seedless grapes

pour sugar on a plate and roll each apple piece in it until fully covered. Place in a feed bucket, dribble with honey. Garnish with raisins and grapes

    Glazzed Hay Knots

      Hay

      Molasses

1 tbs salted and shelled sunflower seeds

Pick out 5 to 10 long strands of hay. Tie into a knot. Plase in feed bucket, dribble with molasses. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds.

Fruit Cup Crunch - my horses favorite

      1 apple - quatered

      1 pear - quatered

1 cup Trix, Cheerios or Corn Pops

    Mix together and serve

Home Baked Horse Cookies - do not subsitute anything in this recipie.

      1 c. carrot, gratted

      1 apple, gratted

      2 tsp. corn oil

      1/4 c. molasses

      1 tsp salt

      1 c. rolled oats

      1 c. flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly greese a cookie sheet, set to the side.

Mix carrot, apple, corn oil and molasses together in a large bowl. Then, fold in salt, oats and flour until well mixed. Spread dough out in one big piece on cookie sheet. Score with knife so that it breaks apart easier after baking. Bake for 20 minutes or until brown. Let cool then break apart to serve.

Or you can try to roll the dough out and use cookie cutters to make shapes then bake.

  3. Make him treats, you can start to make a scrapbook with pictures of you two and your new life together. You can look up shows to go to or find a trail riding buddy, you can search for some fun trails at local parks you can go to.

If you know how to sew you can sew his name into his saddle pad etc. I've done that for my horse and it's really cute.

You can make up a workout routine based on his health and condition and what you want to do with him.

You can look up his weight and what your feeding him and get ideas if its enough etc

    Good luck!

  4. heya if your looking to make a great game and treat for your horse. try tying carrots/apples (whatever he likes) onto a piece of string and hang it in the stable (no against a wall preferably by the door) and they ahve fun trying to get the treats off. if its against a wal they tend to cheat by pressing it against the wall and just eating it all! it will stop you being bored for a little bit too! don't worry if the horse is alittle spooked by the string at first, we tried it with a really spooky horse and he soon got the hang of it in mins!

    good luck!

  5. Well here is a website for treats

  6. go out and ride your new horse

  7. how are you bored you just got a horse go ride

  8. By the sounds of this question he needs an owner who knows about horses.
