  1. It sounds like your horse needs his face messed with lol.  Rub his face and pet him and rub his ears.  The more you do this the better as he will get used to the touching.  Do this when you're not trying to put sunscreen on as well so he doesn't think that everytime you touch him you're going to smear him with something. You could also use a chain around his nose, but I would only do that as a last result.

  2. It sounds like your horse doesn't like having his head handled. Try feeding him from your hand and messing with his face while he is eating. Rub all over his face, ears, and nose. Soon, he will be used to you touching his face and you should be able to put on sunscreen with little to no trouble.

  3. Try working with his head without the sunscreen, just like get him accustomed to the touch, before application, and reward good behavior, ignore rather than punish, bad.  Have you tried sugar cubes?   The touring spanish dancing horses use them to keep lips foamy, and a distraction from the audience. worth a try, luck.

  4. Have you tried a stud chain? That ought to do the trick.

  5. if its just when you ride use a marttigale or tie down
