My horse was sold to me as a 10 year old ,and the vet says he is 24.Is he to old to ride?

  1. well, first, sue the guy that sold you the horse. second, see if the bones are strong enough to carry you, ask the vet. third, try using a light saddle because heavier saddles could cause back problems faster at this age. since you were fooled by this 24 year old horse as a ten year old, it probably means that it doesnt look old. so it probably doesnt have a caved in back, so i think its strong enough to ride


  2. You can still ride him, but you can't ride him for a long time. The fastest speed I would go is trotting, and keep it at a minimum. Good luck with your horse!

  3. I depends on his over all health. I had a horse that lived to be 29, and we rode him up until the last year. I think it helped with his quality of life. But you may want to have your vet let you know what he thinks on the matter
