My horse is a 4 year old paint quarter horse. He is a very calm horse at the walk and trot. He sets his head beautifully at the walk and trot. Then i go to canter him. he sets his head good but he pins his ears back as far as he can and looks very mean. i just got him to stop bucking at the canter but cant get him to stop this.

  1. It sounds like he may be uncomfortable at the canter (perhaps saddle doesn't fit properly). If you have a round pen, try cantering him with sidereins in it...or maybe try lunging him. See if he has the same problem without a rider.
