My horses medicine??

Question

I have recently had a horse that has been diagnosed with the navicular disease. I have him on this medicine called Iso- Prine Liquid. 2 times a day for 3 wks and once a day for 3 wks and every other day for 3wks. I was wondering if this medicine is a antibiotic, steroid, or pain killer? Really need your help because I am showing in a few weeks and we arn't aloud having our horses on steroidswhen we show. Please Help Me

Isoxuprine (Circulon®)

Isoxuprine HcL (Circulon®) For mild to moderate navicular disease you may prescribe isoxuprine. Isoxuprine HCl is the most common drug used to increase the circulation to the podotrochlea.

Isoxuprine does not decrease damage to the joint and is usually only successful in the early stages of navicular syndrome. Isoxuprine therapy is a long course of regular drug therapy which can become expensive and time-consuming.

more info: The drug is also used in humans. The main thing it does is to relax the veins and artheries to allow better blood flow and that is what in particular is needed for horses with navicular.

What is isoxsuprine?

Isoxsuprine is in a class of drugs called vasodilators. Isoxsuprine relaxes veins and arteries, which makes them wider and allows blood to pass through them more easily.

These actions may help treat the symptoms of conditions such as cerebral vascular insufficiency (poor blood flow to the brain), arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), Raynaud's phenomenon, and other conditions involving poor blood flow in the veins and arteries.
