My hot water tank makes a loud bang and shakes the main floor when it heats up ?

was wondering how to change that someone told me its about turning a disk or something not sure could someone tell me what it might be and an what can i do to fix it

  1. Sounds like its got some pressure issues going on.. Try draining it, and if that don't do the trick, try purchasing a new one.  


  2. I don't think that's good. Those tanks have a pressure release valve for a reason. Lots of pressure! Call a professional.

  3. The heater is not drafting properly. Excess gas is building up before igniting, thus the bang. Four things to look for, vent pipe clogged or obstructed, debris laying on burners causing burners to be obstructed, low pilot flame height,or waterheater flue obstruction. This needs immediate attention, excessive gas escaping can result in much larger bang resulting in massive property damage and or death. God Bless and good luck.
