  1. try the county records office for your area - they sometimes have old photographs that may include your house - people send them allsorts and if they are like our records office they are gradually uploading them to the net.

    if they have a website sign up (it should be free) and put in various search words - particularly try the image files.

    another good place to try is a letter in your local paper - people come along with masses of things if you let them know you have an interest.

    and then, theres the library - it usually has a whole section of local history - you might have to take a few books out and have a good search through, but you never know.

    if there is a book of local postcards then they're worth looking through as well.

    buy yourself a cheap magnifying glass - its useful to look in the background of both photos and postcards!
