It's such a disaster that you can barely walk through the house. I am kicking something and hurting my toe like every day. I am not needing like maid/cleaning service but more like someone help me move stuff around and organize. TVs arent supposed to be in the middle of a room, a 200 gallon fish pond isnt supposed to be sitting in your front driveway. etc. This house is about 3500 sq ft too so it seems impossible to do this on my own unless i dont have a job and go at it for 1 year. There are things that are way too heavy, like a piano, fridge, 73 in tv. I am willing to resort to some sorta service provider. anyone have good ideas?

  1. I agree with Theclose....

Have an open house "yard sale".  Clear clutter away from anything you could sell.   Put prices on stuff right where it sits.

Let the customers pay and take stuff away with you only having to open the door.

To prevent excess build-up of junk, only by things based on NEEDS.   And before purchasing anything, litteraly ask yourself, "Do I need this ______?" fish pond, 73" TV, whatever.

3500 sq ft is a big house, you needn't be tripping over stuff.

  2. Oh dear! check out flylady.com, it might not be your kind of thing but quite interesting. its about starting and building good habits to keep your house clesan and tidy, and it assumes that you start with an untidy house.

    good luck getting it sorted

  3. sell everything .

  4. Can you pay neighborhood teenagers to help?  Is there a junior college nearby with a job board? You can pay people to do some jobs, but you have to pick up and organize most of it.  So, drink a lot of coffee and put some music on to give you the boost you need.  Also, they sell plastic disks that can be put under heavy items, called Minute Man Movers (I think) at the hardware stores, that can allow you to slide that T.V. into the corner all by yourself.
