My house phone keeps saying searching??

It is one of those phones that does not need to be pluged into the phone jack but the charger needs to be pluged into the wall I let it charge like all day then I go to use it and it hangs up w/ who ever i'm on w/ and says searching??? why could this be doing this and how do I fix it????

Something needs to go into the wall jack like the base unit if its a cordless with multiple handsets.....

Try to unplug the base and replug with the phone on it. If that does not work, remove the phone battery and hit the keys for about 10 seconds or so and then replace battery and put back on the base for about 10 mins or so.

Check the instruction book. It is not locking in to the base station. OR, depending on the make, that may be normal when not in use, since there is no signal...(from the base.) If this 'remote' cordless is capable of calling in and out, the latter may be the case.
